Every once a while, I like to rotate my fragrance, add a couple of new scents. Byredo is one of my recent choice and it has been the fragrance brand that I love for couple years. I am still a newbie of a perfume collector or “Byredo” collector, but I know that I will try to collect them all slowly. My Favorite Byredo Perfume are Bal d’afrique Blanche Gypsy Water
There are a lot to talk about the brand, but I will only talk about the perfume itself and why I really like to use them on daily basis.
The Packaging
Beautiful minimalist black and white package, from the box to the bottle itself. The round magnetic cap and low profile round bottle is adorable. They make your vanity countertop look luxurious for sure.
What are my favorite Byredo scents now ? Let’s start with the most iconic , cult -followed scent Gypsy Water – It is a light scent that doesn’t last more than 5 hour on me but I can wear this scent either during the day or evening. Because of it’s warm base woody scent, I prefer to wear it in the fall and winter. Gypsy Water is an ode to the beauty of Romani culture, its unique customs, intimate beliefs and distinguished way of living. The scent wakens a dream of a colorful lifestyle made of innate nomadism. Woody notes of pine needle and sandalwood associated to intense amber and fresh citrus evoke the fever of gypsy nights spent in the forest.
Notes: (info from Byredo site)
- Top: Bergamot, Juniper Berries, Lemon, Pepper
- Heart: Incense, Orris, Pine Needle
- Base: Amber, Sandalwood, Vanilla
Bal D’afrique is my recent favorite. Its Bergamont top note hit intensely at the first but it turns into floral scents right away. I really enjoy this scent and it stays for at least 5 hours. This scent makes me happy and I like to wear it during the spring and summer time.
With a focus on beauty and fantasy, BAL D’AFRIQUE is Ben Gorham’s ‘love letter’ to Africa. Wanting to sum up and celebrate the reach and influence of Africa through time, particularly the way its myriad cultures have shaped dance, art and music, the idea of an imaginary event.
Notes: (info from Byredo site)
- Top: African Marigold, Bergamot, Bucchu
- Heart: Cyclamen, Violet
- Base: Moroccan Cedarwood, Vetiver
The last one is my all time favorite Blanche which is super light floral scent and clean. Not too many people talk about it, neither many people like it. For some reason, it works on my skin and my hair. I picked up the body cream and hair perfume and I love both of them.
The idea for Blanche is, as the name suggests, built around my perception of the colour white. For the first time I actually made a fragrance for and with a specific person in mind. I wanted to capture her innocent and untainted side, with a fragrance almost transparent in nature. Blanche also represents an appreciation for classic beauty. The fragrance is pure and simple in structure but extreme in character.” – Ben Gorham, founder
Notes: (info from Byredo site)
- Top: Aldehyde, Pink Pepper, White Rose
- Heart: Neroli, Peony, Violet
- Base: Blonde Woods, Musk, Sandalwood
I enjoy all the scents here, and I am ready to pick up Mojave Ghost. Do you have any Byredo Fragrances ? Which one do you like ? Share your thoughts with me by leaving comments below.
